Before Marc Rebillet was selling out theaters around the world, before the bathrobe became iconic, before millions of people knew him as Loop Daddy -- he played two private shows at the Boom Room in Fishtown, Philadelphia. December 22, 2018. And it was absolutely electric.

How It Happened

A crew of friends and promoters called Aspire Higher reached out to book Marc when he was still pre-viral. He was making tons of videos online, building a following, but hadn't blown up yet. The plan was one show at the Boom Room -- an intimate room in Fishtown that hosts private events and live performances.

Then, in the months between booking and showtime, Marc completely blew up. The videos went viral. Suddenly he was getting booked at massive thousand-person venues. And here we were with this tiny, intimate room. Instead of canceling, they added a second show on the same night. Both sold out.

December 22, 2018: Two Shows, One Night

The energy was unreal. Everyone packed into the room was completely enthralled. This was Marc Rebillet at his rawest -- no massive production, no arena sound system. Just him, his gear, and a crowd that knew they were seeing something special before the rest of the world caught on.

The BOSS RC-505

After the shows, Boom Room owner Gary Dann got to hang out with Marc and learn about his setup. Marc uses the BOSS RC-505 loop station -- the engine behind all those wild, layered performances. He gave Gary a personal demo in the studio's control room, walking him through how he builds those loops from scratch. Gary's been using one ever since.

If You Were There, You Were There

Shout out to Ryan and Jesse from Aspire Higher for having the vision to book this guy before anyone else knew what was coming. That's the kind of thing that makes small venues special -- sometimes you catch lightning in a bottle.

If you were there that night, you know. And if you weren't -- hit play on that video and get a taste of what you missed.
